Solo Sunset Session at Bighorn Lookout in Kananaskis

I had the privilege of photographing the most beautiful solo session at Bighorn Lookout in Kananaskis. The mountains were glowing, the wind was soft then fierce, and the entire valley felt peaceful in that magical way only Kananaskis can. This stunning model knew exactly what she wanted and she led the photoshoot with such ease! She was so comfortable, friendly, and so prepared for photos! She was such a pleasure to photograph.

She arrived with the kind of smile that instantly makes you feel like you have known her for years. As soon as we stepped out onto the ridge, everything shifted. The golden light settled on the peaks behind her, the sky opened up in the softest pastels, and she completely came into her own.

What I loved most about this session was how relaxed and genuine it felt. There was no rush and no pressure. Just movement, breath, and the freedom to slow down and be fully present. She twirled in the grass and laughed at the breeze. She sank into stillness when the sun dipped behind the mountains and looked out over the valley with this quiet strength that was beautiful to witness.

Bighorn Lookout has a way of making you feel small in the best possible way. The views stretch forever and the cliffs drop into layers of soft blue ridges. It is the kind of place where every moment feels like a deep breath. Photographing her there felt like capturing a conversation between her and the landscape. Graceful, grounded, and unforgettable.

By the time the last bit of light faded, she was glowing. Not from posing or performing. Just from being herself. These are the sessions I treasure the most. Simple, honest, and filled with that quiet magic that can be made out of everyday moments.

Tip for visitors: If you are getting photos done at Bighorn Lookout, there is no data/wifi at the location and approximately 10 minutes before you arrive there by car. Make sure to coordinate with your clients or photographers accordingly, because you won’t be able to text or call once you are there.
