A Sunset Family Session in Auburn Bay

Some sessions feel effortless right from the very beginning, and this one was exactly that. I first met this sweet mama at a playground in our neighbourhood while our kids were running around and making instant friends, as they always do. We started chatting, and within minutes it felt like we had known each other longer than just a quick playground introduction. She is warm, genuine, and such an inspiring young business owner. I love meeting other women building something of their own while also juggling motherhood.

We decided to keep the session close to home and photograph everything right in Auburn Bay. There is something special about capturing families in the places they spend their everyday moments. It adds a layer of familiarity and meaning to the photos. Auburn Bay was beautiful, with calm water, soft light, and the perfect evening atmosphere.

Their family showed up with the best energy. The kids were full of curiosity and giggles, and they made the whole session feel fun and relaxed. We wandered around the dock and the pathways, soaking in the golden light reflecting off the lake. I loved capturing the little moments: tiny hands wrapped around their parents, sweet smiles, the way they snuggled in close, and all those candid in-between expressions that always end up being my favourites.

We also took a bit of time for couple photos, which felt particularly meaningful because they are celebrating a milestone anniversary soon! Photographing just the two of them was special. There is something timeless about parents pausing in the middle of busy family life to honour their relationship and the years of love that brought them here.

At the end of the session, we finished with some updated headshots for her. She has such a natural, confident presence on camera, and the evening light could not have suited her more. It was the perfect way to wrap up a beautiful session!
