This couple traveled from British Columbia while picking up some family visiting from Mexico, and chose to do their engagement photos in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. As a Banff couples photographer, sessions like this are a reminder of why this area is one of the most sought-after destinations in the world for engagement photography — the scenery is breathtaking, but it’s the emotion between two people that truly brings it to life.
We originally had to reschedule due to unpredictable mountain weather (very on-brand for Banff), but the change worked in our favour. On the rescheduled day, we were greeted with soft light, calm conditions, and that quiet, golden atmosphere that makes engagement photos in Banff feel so timeless and cinematic.
At the very start of their session, we even got a little unexpected magic — a small group of deer grazing peacefully nearby. It was one of those grounding, natural moments that fits perfectly with the slow, intentional energy of photographing couples in the mountains.
Their story is such a beautiful one.
They met while working together in construction and quickly formed a connection that didn’t end when the workday did. After hours, they found themselves constantly messaging, talking, and wanting to spend more time together. What started as conversations after work quickly turned into intentional dates — dinners out, gondola rides, and walks through botanical gardens in Vancouver. Within just three months, they officially became boyfriend and girlfriend.
Since then, their relationship has grown through travel, shared experiences, and a deep appreciation for simply doing life together. From trips across Mexico and the USA to cozy nights watching movies and planning their future, their connection feels grounded, fun, and full of genuine partnership.
That ease showed up so naturally during their engagement photos. Nothing felt posed in a forced way — instead, it was about capturing movement, laughter, closeness, and the quiet in-between moments that reflect who they are together.
They are now planning their wedding in Mexico next year, which feels like a beautiful continuation of a love story that has already crossed borders and seasons.
