This January, I had the pleasure of photographing a young couple at Vermilion Lakes in Banff who had traveled all the way from Montana! In the week leading up to their session, we had been chatting about locations. He wanted it to feel truly special. Beautiful, intentional, and worthy of the moment he was planning.

A winter visit to Calgary becomes a quiet prelude to the Arctic, where extreme cold, fieldwork, and the science of sea ice converge. This session captures a moment before departure, when preparation meets place and cold is only a warm-up.

Every time I meet a new family for a session, I leave thinking the exact same thing: That was the sweetest family.

Of course, I love creating beautiful images, but what surprises me every single time is how meaningful the meeting itself feels. Connecting with people, even briefly, is just as rewarding as delivering their gallery. This session in Banff was one of those moments that stays with you long after the camera is packed away.

This sweet family travelled all the way from Texas to experience the magic of Banff, and we were lucky enough to cross paths during their trip. Even though the temperatures were a world away from what they’re used to back home, they embraced every moment of this mountain adventure: especially their daughter, who was so excited at the possibility of seeing snow!

I had the privilege of photographing the most beautiful solo session at Bighorn Lookout in Kananaskis. The mountains were glowing, the wind was soft then fierce, and the entire valley felt peaceful in that magical way only Kananaskis can feel. This stunning model knew exactly what she wanted and she led the photoshoot with such ease! She was so comfortable, friendly, and so prepared for photos! She was such a pleasure to photograph.

Over the summer I had the best little session with my family at one of our favourite spots at Bighorn Lookout in Kananaskis. The kids were full of energy, running back and forth along the path and laughing the whole time. At one point they were holding hands, skipping together like the happiest little adventurers.
